National Self-Represented Litigants Project Intake Form

We are not currently conducting full research interviews; however, we are continuing to populate our database of self-represented litigants (SRLs) with background information and demographic data collected with consent. If you are willing to contribute your information to our database, we kindly ask that you take a few minutes to complete the following survey.

The survey asks specific questions about your experience as a SRL and most questions are a simple yes/no. For the last question in the survey, we ask that you share in your own words how self-representation has impacted your life, and offer any tips you may have for other SRLs. Your answers are placed into a secure database. The information you provide will be used in the following ways:

1. To develop further data about SRL demographics and experiences;
2. To match SRLs to organizations and agencies requesting a speaker or a working group member, or similar participation by a SRL, with permission;
3. To generate quantitative data to further generate the discussion about the SRL phenomenon and access to justice issues in Canada.

Furthermore, the data collected is used to publish an annual report which highlights the trends associated with self representation. Thank you for taking a few moments to provide this information about yourself and your experience as a self-represented litigant.
