CALL FOR PROGRAMS: 2016 BLACK HISTORY MONTH |
2016 Theme - "Black Lives Matter"
Cultural appreciation is essential to a campus climate that is conducive to learning and leading for the development of future global citizens. This is imperative for promoting diversity, multicultural education and social justice throughout the Governors State University community at large. Therefore it is essential to develop programs that focus on fostering an understanding and appreciation of the history of the many cultures that exist within the Governors State University community and across the nation.
Submitting a program for Black History Month and other cultural heritage months, is an excellent opportunity to expose and increase understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity for faculty, staff and students. This will provide shared learning opportunities designed to increase awareness, acquire knowledge, and develop competencies that will strengthen our campus community, broaden our understanding of diversity, and promote mutual respect and multicultural sensitivity.
