* 5. The ARSL Nomination Committee has identified three skill sets that are needed on our board. ARSL is a working Board. Each Board Member chooses a committee they feel their skills will have the most impact. Please tell the board your experience with each and which one you believe to be your strongest skill or talent.

The first skill set is policy and governance including analysis of policies, writing policy and procedures and the continued development of the governance structure of the organization.

* 6. The second skill set is development. The Board would like to continue to position ARSL for the future through leadership and advocacy to expand organizational and membership development.

* 7. The third skill set involves the work of the Members' Services committee. This includes skills in current technologies, hosting large scale web events, creating advertising/flyers for social media postings, and website design (Wordpress). (A sample project might be someone to market ARSL by speaking to some of the college classes via a skype type event.)

* 10. ARSL is a working board. As a working board, members make a commitment of time and travel. 

Board members are expected to attend virtual meetings 8-12 times per year, and to attend a face-to-face meeting at least once per year during our annual conference. Financial assistance for board travel can often be arranged, but it is important that your employer is supportive of your commitment to the organization.

* 12. ARSL's Board meets face-to-face once a year, immediately following the annual conference. This year's conference will be held this October 27-29 in Fargo, North Dakota. Will you be able to attend this conference and the board meeting following the conference.

   (ARSL supplies some funds to assist board members with travel if needed.)
