Application Form and Details
The We Rise Coalition are inviting applications for sponsorship from feminist and women’s human rights defenders across the Pacific region to attend:
13th Triennial Conference of Pacific Women and 6th Meeting of the Pacific Ministers for Women. Novotel – Lami Bay (Suva), Fiji Islands 2 – 6 October 2017 Extended Deadline: Thursday 7th September 2017
What is the Triennial Conference?
The Triennial conference is organised by the Pacific Community (SPC) bringing together senior government officials, civil society and social movements, academics, development partners and the private sector from across the 22 Pacific Island countries and territories. The conference aims to assess progress made on commitments on gender equality, and identifies measures for accelerating progress and implementation of gender equality commitments in the region. The official theme is women’s economic empowerment.
Who are the We Rise Coalition?
The We Rise Coalition is a dynamic, learning Coalition led by four feminist organisations:
• Diverse Voices and Action for Equality (DiVA for Equality)
• femLINKpacific (femLINK)
• Fiji Women’s Rights Movement (FWRM)
• International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA)
At the centre of the We Rise Coalition is a commitment to building and sustaining the collective power of women in all their diversities.
Successive Triennial Conferences have provided an important space for the participation of civil society organisations. For the 13th Triennial Conference, the We Rise Coalition are seeking to support and encourage the participation of feminists and women’s human rights defenders to ensure their priorities and concern are heard, with a particular focus on economic rights, human rights of women and girls throughout their life cycle, and ensuring substantive participation of diverse Pacific women from marginalised groups, and urban poor, rural and remote communities.
Participant attendance has been made possible through funding support from UN Women (Fiji Multi-Country Office); and the Australian Government through the Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Program and their support of the We Rise 2 program, implemented by the We Rise Coalition.
The Coalition will cover all travel, accommodation, registration fees and meal costs. You will be notified on success of your application by 15 September 2017.
