How SurveyMonkey is better than Google Forms

As the world’s leading online survey platform, SurveyMonkey gives you the power to create any type of survey with ease.

From a simple poll to in-depth market research, we give you tools to create awesome surveys, but we also give you lots of ways to get responses and analyze your results to make informed, data-driven decisions.

Google Forms also lets you create surveys and get answers. Here’s a closer look at SurveyMonkey and Google Forms to see which one’s a better fit for you:

Survey features

SurveyMonkey

You can choose from 15 different question types, including multiple choice, text box, Net Promoter® Score, and A/B comparisons. Don’t know which questions to ask? Save time and create more effective surveys by choosing from over 1,600 questions written by our survey experts.

Google Forms

Choose from nine different question types, including text and multiple choice. There are user-created Google Form templates available from different sources, but they aren’t expert-designed and certified.

Customer service

SurveyMonkey

Have an urgent question or issue? We offer 24/7 email support for all customers. For instant answers, our Help Center houses a comprehensive collection of articles and videos that explain how to use every SurveyMonkey feature. We also offer tips and guidance for creating effective surveys in Surveys 101.

Google Forms

Although there isn’t a help center dedicated to strictly Google Forms, there is a basic Docs Editors Help Center that has information on creating and working with forms.

Getting responses

SurveyMonkey

You can send out your survey lots of different ways. Get a web link to cut and paste it into emails, social media posts or your website. Use our email collector to track who responds. Or add embedded or pop up collectors to any website. By upgrading, you can host surveys on research.net, our white label domain. Give us your criteria and SurveyMonkey Audience can even find the right people to take your survey.

Google Forms

You can share the link to your form anywhere on the web or email it out directly from Google Forms, but you can’t track who responds or include any additional data. You can also use html to embed your form into a website.

Analysis and reporting

SurveyMonkey

Get responses in real time, slice and dice your data to find insights, and share your results with others for additional feedback. You can convert your data into custom charts and reports to show off your results.

Google Forms

Your survey data is available in simple bar graphs, pie charts, and text displays. Users can’t filter results, but data is automatically exported into a Google Spreadsheet.
