The Role

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring leader to run our Surveys Platform engineering team.   You will be responsible for our APIs and services that enable our developers, integrators, and customers for our Surveys Product - partnering with the technical leadership team to define and deliver the evolution of our next generation Surveys Platform.  

This leader will be a critical component of continuing to build out our engineering team.  A key area of focus will be to recruit and empower a high performing team of technical talent, ability to coach, develop and mentor, including the ability to manage multiple teams across several locations. In addition, this role will partner closely with a cross-functional team of senior engineering leaders.   You will be expected to drive efficient and effective processes and tools for development, continuous integration and deployment.


This role will report directly to the CTO.



  • Lead a team of 25+ developers to build and scale an highly skilled engineering team
  • Drive data and test driven development culture within the development team through education and knowledge sharing
  • Partner closely with HR and recruiting teams to attract and recruit strong, experienced talent
  • Manage responsibility for the public and private APIs, application services and data services for all of the core surveys capabilities
  • Help implement effective engineering processes and policies that emphasize quality and forward progress
  • Drive architecture discussions and planning with engineering and product teams
  • Own daily management of objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, and risks for your organization.
  • Provide both technical leadership and mentorship of people managers - holding a high performance bar for the team



  • 10+ years experience leading high volume, high availability, multi-dc server engineering teams
  • Experience evolving and scaling an existing set of distributed services towards a new target architecture over time
  • Demonstrated experience in running teams distributed across multiple locations
  • Experience operating in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment environment in the public cloud
  • A track record of recruiting extraordinary, diverse senior technical talent to inspire a talented team
  • Strong presentation, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability able to weigh conflicting constraints and make rapid decisions in a dynamic environment
  • BA/MA in Comp Sci, Engineering math, statistics, or related field
