As the leading online survey platform, we receive more than a million survey responses per day. When customers use our expert-certified survey templates and questions, our platform anonymizes and aggregates the responses to each question, creating benchmarks to compare your results against. Here’s how the benchmarking process works:

  1. Sign in to SurveyMonkey and create a survey with our expert-certified templates and questions
  2. Send out your survey to get responses
  3. Review your results—benchmarks will be available for select questions
  4. Segment benchmarks by a number of attributes (e.g., industry) for more granular comparisons

Protecting your privacy

The responses we use to calculate benchmarks are aggregated and anonymized. Nobody’s survey results are ever individually identifiable. To preserve privacy (and make sure our benchmarks are meaningful), we’ll only publish benchmarks for a given question if it meets these criteria:

  • At least 30 organizations have received responses
  • Response data is refreshed quarterly
  • Expert-certified questions remain unaltered
  • Organizations have not opted out of benchmarks
