WATCH: How to Include Proper Ranges in Your Survey Questions

Welcome to the sixth installment of our nine-part video tutorial series–Jumpstart Survey Creation–where our experts at SurveyMonkey Audience share tips on how to design amazing surveys! In the video below, we talk about the importance of using proper ranges in your answer choices.

When using ranges in a multiple-choice question, there a few key things to remember. First, make sure they don’t overlap. Overlapping ranges will confuse respondents, decreasing data quality. Next, keep the range intervals the same size. This will make your data analysis go more smoothly as you can use the midpoint of the range to look at trends in your data.

Lastly, use Skip Logic if you don’t want to include a 0 answer choice or have unqualified respondents answer the question. Don’t forget to check back in to the blog for even more useful tips to come in our How-To video series.
