How to Keep Your Employees Engaged: 4 Quick Tips

Happy, engaged employees means happy, engaged customers as research has proven. Additional benefits of excellent employee engagement levels include increased productivity, less employee turnover and even a safer work environment. Win-win for everyone!

However, fostering employee engagement can sometimes be an intimidating process. Where do you start? Don’t worry, you’re in good hands with us. We’ve developed the expert guidance and tools that you need to assess and improve employee engagement within your own organization. So how do you start to measure and monitor your employees’ engagement levels?

Well, sending out surveys to your team is a great first step, but not the only step. You need to create a strategy that goes beyond engagement scores and ranking. What’s really behind those numbers and responses?

1)   Communicate your engagement strategy.

  • Determine what will be measured and how it will be measured (hint–with a survey!) Have these questions in mind: What will you share with stakeholders (e.g. management, employees)? What actions will you or your organization take to address the feedback you collect?

2)   Identify action areas.

  • Don’t try to address every action item within your survey. This will only stretch your resources thin and could end up overwhelming employees and managers.
  • Figure out who or what the key drivers are of employee engagement that’s unique to your organization. Focus resources on those drivers that end up making the most impact.

3)   Create an action plan.

  • Keep employee and team goals S.M.A.R.T—specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.
  • Let the key learnings from your survey results guide your action planning.

4)   Maintain your engagement strategy.

  • Measure frequently. Measure consistently.
  • Draw connections from your findings and measurements to business results.
