5 Tips for Surveying Smarter This Year

Survey Tips!At the start of a new year, many of us like to dust off our shoulders and resolve to be better versions of our previous selves. And when it comes to surveying, it’s a great time to clean up your SurveyMonkey account, get organized, and most importantly, set yourself up for the easiest (and smartest) year of surveying ever!

So kick your heels up, take a break from some of your more grueling New Year’s resolutions, and check out our top tips for simplifying your survey life this year:

1. Check your account’s vitals

First thing’s first—your yearly SurveyMonkey account health check-up. Often times a new year means new management. It’s the perfect time to make sure that all of your account details are up-to-date.

Is the main account and billing contact still accurate? How about the billing credit card and address? Need to update your purchase order information? Has your company grown in the past year? Maybe it’s time to upgrade to the Enterprise plan so you can give multiple employees SurveyMonkey accounts. That way, all of the surveys your organization sends have a consistent look and feel, as you can store brand assets and documents in a shared library. Plus, if someone from your organization leaves, the data they’ve collected doesn’t go with them.

2. Stand out by branding your survey

Speaking of brand assets, a straightforward, yet powerful way of making your survey impactful is by adding a logo and color theme to the design. When you apply a logo or color theme to your survey that represents your company or brand, your surveys look even more professional—and your brand sticks with respondents.

Just click into the Options and Theme menus from the Design page to set up your logo and theme. You now have yourself an aesthetically pleasing survey that will be sure to build trust and recognizability with your customers in the new year!

3. Optimize your survey results by using the right collector

Survey response collectors—gotta love ‘em. But which one to choose?! One of your biggest decisions in the surveying process is trying to decide which collector best suits your needs.

Let’s do a quick breakdown:

Web Link Collector: This collector is a simple URL that allows you to post your survey anywhere your heart desires. You can post to Twitter, hyperlink in your personal email, or even use for a QR code. If you’d like to embed your survey into your site, try out our trusty (already coded) Website Collector.

Web Link collectors are particularly advantageous if you’re looking to allow multiple responses to a survey, or make the survey completely anonymous.

Email Invitation Collector: Need to track your respondents? Then this is the collector for you. You can easily upload your respondent lists into Contacts and enter any custom data that you want to track. That information will then show by side with their survey responses. The Email Invitation collector makes it easy for you to know who responded to your survey without having to ask!

Facebook: Want respondents to easily share your survey with their friends? Try out our Facebook Collector.
