Do Colleges Need a Course In Reality?

A new crop of millennial grads are looking back on four years of college and asking themselves: What just happened? Job resource company AfterCollege used SurveyMonkey to learn that most graduating seniors don’t believe that the college experience has adequately prepared them for the real world. Some of their major findings:

  • 83% of college seniors don’t have a job lined up for after graduation, though 71% are actively looking. (Tweet this.)
  • Only 52% of 2014 students and recent grads think college adequately prepares students for the working world. (Tweet this.)
  • College faculty rank third behind parents and significant others when it comes to influencing a student’s career choices. (Tweet this.)
  • 71.6% of college seniors say “caring about what the company does” is their primary factor when choosing an employer. (Tweet this.)
