Mother’s Day
surveymonkey's mother's day survey

Monkeys love their mamas!

In anticipation of Mother’s Day, we’ve been asking you — dear customers — to share (though a survey, of course!) some of the special ways you celebrate your mom. We had a hunch that there are some very creative survey takers out there, and we were dying to hear how you honor your moms.

First, we asked how respondents were planning to treat their moms on their special day. While 43% of respondents had unique plans (like phone calls, brunch, and jewelry) that weren’t listed in the original response options, 33% sent greeting cards, 27% bought flowers, and 24% showered their mothers with hugs (awwww).

Next, when asked about the best Mother’s Day gift they had ever given or received, we used our text analysis feature to surface the most common responses.

And finally, we asked respondents to share some of the best advice they’d ever received from their mothers. Here are some of our favorites:

“Treat everyone the way you want to be treated because you never know what the future holds.” — Mary M.

“Laughter is the best medicine.” — Laura S.

“Learn to forgive people quickly.” — Kareem I.

“Don’t put off ‘til tomorrow, what you could have done today.” — Alfie B.

“Make sure you travel the world.” — Edna B.

“Always tell the truth because Mom will find out if you don’t!”—J.T.

There you have it. Clearly, mom has played a big role in the lives of our survey takers, and you’ve come up with some pretty great ways of thanking her. Here at SurveyMonkey, we’re offering free Monkey hugs to all the mothers out there all day (OK, the offer stands every day—we love mamas!). Did you give or receive some great Mother’s Day treatment yesterday? Tell us about it in the comment section below.
