Eastern Africa is currently experiencing its worst drought in 60 years. The absence of seasonal rains has led to crop failure, loss of livestock, and devastating food shortages. This humanitarian crisis has left over 12 million people in desperate need of assistance and up to 400,000 children could die from starvation if they do not receive aid.
How can you help? Earlier this year, SurveyMonkey launched Contribute, a program in which users like you provide their feedback and in exchange, we make donations to support great charities. Given the increasing urgency of the crisis in East Africa, we wanted to highlight one in particular—International Rescue Committee (rescue.org). Founded in 1933, the IRC responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps refugees to survive and rebuild their lives.
The IRC is actively deploying relief workers and providing aid to the affected areas. They’re supporting refugee camps with fortified food and medical assistance, trucking in clean water and installing water-supply systems, and providing hygiene supplies and awareness. It’s during these critical times that relief organizations like the IRC need public support the most.
So far, SurveyMonkey has donated more than $35,000 to charities, of which $687 has gone to the IRC and we’re asking YOU to help us increase that amount! When you sign up to be part of Contribute, you will receive surveys from SurveyMonkey customers who need your opinion. For each survey you complete, $0.50 will be donated to the charity of your choice. If you continue taking surveys, we will automatically continue to donate on your behalf. It’s a win-win: you’re sharing your opinion with people who really want it and you’re supporting causes that desperately need the help.
To register for SurveyMonkey Contribute, click here. Choose the IRC as your default charity and for every survey you take, we will give $0.50 to support their global efforts in providing lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster.
