1. Overview and Instructions

MENTOR, State Mentoring Partnerships, along with our national partners, are engaging in a national discussion about the documentary Waiting for "Superman", which highlights challenges in the American public education system.

The film explores issues surrounding the United States public education system and encourages people to take action. After seeing the movie, people will be directed to www.waitingforsuperman.com to find opportunities to mentor, volunteer or donate. It is our hope that the film and follow up dialogue will inform and help people understand that mentoring is one powerful solution to keeping kids in school.

MENTOR and Mentoring USA want to gauge the amount of interest and action in mentoring that your mentoring program may experience as a result of the attention surrounding the movie. Taking this survey will help us to establish a baseline measure to determine the impact that the movie has on increasing the number of people who step forward to mentor.

Resources on how to get involved can be found at www.mentoring.org/wfs and information on how mentoring can help to reduce our nation’s dropout crises can be found at http://www.mentoring.org/program_resources/academic_achievement_initiative.

When completing the survey, please enter information for the time period from October 1, 2010 through October 1, 2011.
