State of Texas Teacher Recruitment and Retention Survey
Facilitators of this Survey:
Texas A&M University-Texarkana receives ongoing funding from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the State of Texas Special Education Recruitment and Retention Grant. Through this grant, A&M-Texarkana administers funds that are awarded to 13 participating universities to promote recruitment and retention of special education (SPED) teachers. Participating universities include: A&M-Texarkana, Midwestern State University, Prairie View A&M University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M International University, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas Southern University, Texas Woman’s University, and West Texas A&M University. External evaluation for the grant is provided by the West Texas Office of Evaluation and Research (WTER) at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU). WTER worked with project leadership and campus leaders at participating universities to develop this survey.
Purpose of this Survey:
This survey was created to collect information from individuals who are seeking or have already obtained Texas teacher certification that will be used to improve the grant’s SPED recruitment and retention strategies, to prepare a report for TEA, to make presentations, and to write research publications.
Important Information for Survey Respondents:
It is important for all survey respondents to understand each of the following things.
- All participants in this survey must be at least 18 years of age and either seeking or already have obtained Texas teacher certification.
- Your participation in this survey is strictly voluntary.
- There is no reward or penalty associated with participation or non-participation in the survey, and you can choose to stop your participation in the survey at any time.
- Data will not be collected as to the identity of survey respondents, and therefore confidentiality of all information provided through the survey will be strictly maintained.
- Risks associated with participation in this survey are minimal.
Your participation in this survey is important because the information collected will help to meet the need for more Special Education teachers through improved recruitment and retention efforts for these teachers.
