ACT 2010 Green Infrastructure Summit and Municipal Sustainability Forum
April 19-21, 2010
Washington, DC
Trees are essential to the health and livability of our nation's cities and towns. Cleaner air, greener streets, and healthier neighborhoods are crucial to the prosperity of the American economy. But lasting progress won't come without changes in domestic policy. Now is the time to harness the momentum on Capitol Hill. It is critical that Members of Congress understand the implications of policy choices on the ability of our cities to sustain their economies and promote more sustainable development.
Please join the Alliance for Community Trees at the Green Infrastructure Summit and Municipal Sustainability Forum. The two days of Hill meetings and discussions will take place on Capitol Hill.
Evening Reception & Awards Presentation- April 19
Please join us to honor this year's recipients of the Public Service Medal and Volunteer of the Year.
Green Infrastructure Summit- April 20
The Summit is a chance for urban forest leaders from around the country to hear from Hill staffers, ACT national partners, and other experts about how trees and green infrastructure fit into the agendas of energy & commerce, transportation & infrastructure, financial services, labor & education, and more.
Municipal Sustainability Forum- April 21
The Forum is an unique opportunity to engage with municipal leaders who are responsible for the care and direction of greening in their cities. Focusing on three issues of great importance to municipal leaders, this is an opportunity for city leaders to roll up their sleeves to dialogue about the value of trees, learn from peer models, and form task forces to champion targeted public policy.
