Help Us Name Hamilton County's New Native American Experience
The Hamilton County, Indiana Parks Department is creating a new park public experience that explores the science of archaeology, tells about the Pre Historic Native American cultures that lived there, and provides for immersive and fun learning for all ages at its Strawtown Koteewi Park. This outdoor experience will primarily be free and available year-around, with special seasonal programs offered featuring hands-on activities.
This 750-acre park located in northeastern Hamilton County already features more than 8 miles of biking/walking/horseback riding trails, a natural history center with special programming year-around, and is adjacent to a campground and the opportunity to canoe on the White River.
The new cultural experience, opening later this year, will feature re-created archaeology dig areas, replica Native American buildings, displays showing daily life of these native peoples, and more.
