Stakeholder survey

Schools' guide: a directory of emerging evidence

Thank you for taking the time to complete this short survey, which we are using to support the development of a guide for schools.

The guide aims to outline a range of interventions, with a solid evidence base, that are effective in supporting the speech, language and communication skills of children and young people. It will outline who interventions are aimed at, who they can be delivered by and where to go for more information. We hope to include in the guide interventions which may not reach “gold standard” academic research, but show promise, through a combination of positive outcomes and transparent evidence and evaluation. In the long term, the guide will be interactive, enabling views of users to be given, and further examples to be included

Initial stages of development will involve desktop research and discussion with partners; there will be liaison with the Better Communication Research Programme team, with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and with consortium members, both in terms of content and process. Following this will be consultation with stakeholders, such as teachers, SLTs, head teachers. The guide will be developed based on outcomes of all of the above, aiming for a wider launch in January 2012.
