2012-13 RUSA Online Course Proposal Form
1. Welcome to the RUSA Online Course Proposal Form!
One of the roles of the RUSA Professional Development Committee is to solicit and evaluate proposals for professional development courses that support excellence in the delivery of general library services and materials, and the provision of reference and information services, collection development, readers’ advisory, and resource sharing for all ages, in every type of library.
The Committee welcomes proposals for professional development courses to be taught using the Moodle course management software over the course of four to six weeks. Moodle features a chat function to allow for live course sessions in addition to asynchronous coursework. Blackboard Collaborate is also available for live presentation sessions. Instructors for accepted proposals will receive support and training for these technology tools.
Attendees are charged a fee to participate in the course and receive a certificate upon completion. The fee includes ongoing access to an archived version of the course. Instructors will be paid a one-time $1,000 course/curriculum development fee to set up the course initially, and $30 per participant thereafter. Instructors who need to make major updates or revisions in the future to existing courses will also receive a $1,000 development fee. The Committee does attempt to consider expected levels of interest when approving a online course proposals.
