Interpreters United, Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) is seriously concerned about the impact of changing from in-person interpreting for medical and social service appointments to telephone and video interpreting. Now it is critical for patients, interpreters, medical practitioners, and concerned citizens to speak out to protect the future of interpreting in WA. With the help of stakeholders, we can help the State develop clear and strict criteria for when and where remote interpretation (RI) – telephonic or video – could be used.
