Poverty Alliance Activities Review

The Poverty Alliance is currently reviewing our current core activities as we come to the end of our 3 year funding agreement with the Scottish Government. The purpose of the grant awarded in April 2008 was to support the core costs of the Poverty Alliance to both help meet its own aims and objectives and to help support the Scottish Government’s agenda for tackling poverty, inequality and disadvantage.

Objectives for this funding were agreed between the Alliance and the Government. The three objectives were to:

Raise Awareness:
• of Scottish poverty issues among policy makers and the staff of statutory agencies responsible for the delivery of anti-poverty policies;
• of the Scottish Government’s approach to tackling poverty among Poverty Alliance members, and stakeholders in the voluntary and community sector

Influence:
• the development of effective, evidence based anti-poverty policies within Scotland, the UK and Europe.

Build the capacity:
• of community and voluntary sector groups and those directly affected by poverty to engage in the policy development process
• of policy makers and the staff of voluntary agencies to respond effectively to the needs of those directly affected by poverty;

With the end of the current funding agreement in March 2011, we wish to carry out a review of the Poverty Alliance’s activities over the last three years with a view to understanding the impact of this funding. The questionnaire is being distributed to a wide range of individuals that have worked with the Alliance over at least the last three years. We are keen to hear the views of all who work with us - people facing poverty, community groups, voluntary organisations, policy makers, politicians, faith groups, trade unions, academics, public sector workers - all those who share our concern with tackling poverty.

We thank you for taking the time to respond to this questionnaire. The results will contribute to our evaluation of our work and will help us shape our future activities. Please ensure you complete this questionnaire by 16 December 2010
