Request for Professional Photography
Photography Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The museum's facilities and staff are available for photography projects that meet the following guidelines:
1) The project must provide publicity value for the museum and the U.S. Air Force, as determined by the Public Affairs Division.
2) The subject matter is directly related to the museum, its artifacts, galleries, events, programs, its staff and/or the U.S. Air Force's mission and interests and is considered educational and informative.
3) The project is not of a commercial or partisan political nature, such as for advertising or promotional purposes, fund-raising or political campaigns.
4) The museum cannot be used merely as a backdrop (i.e. for projects not meeting the criteria above).
5) Photographers must have a distributor (i.e. magazine) in place before approval can be given.
6) Requests must be received at least three weeks prior to anticipated date of filming.
Please note that crews must be escorted by a staff member from the Public Affairs Division while in the museum, and museum staff may not be able to accommodate lengthy shooting schedules. The Public Affairs Division will work with requestors to provide sufficient time to satisfy project requirements.
Only non-interference photography will be allowed inside the museum during regular business hours. This means only hand-held cameras with a tripod may be used. No other equipment that would interrupt traffic flow may be used during the day. Please note that the museum can become very busy, and noise factors and low lighting levels should be taken into consideration.
If you require equipment other than hand-held cameras, photography must be completed before the museum opens (7-9 a.m.) or after the museum closes (set-up can begin at 4:30 p.m.).
