Equal Justice Works is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing the next generation of public interest lawyers. We have a potential opportunity to fund 20 or more attorney positions to work in high-need communities across the country on preserving low income housing. Attorneys will work closely with community organizers and will receive training and support from an energetic and experienced national community of lawyers and organizers. The purpose of this survey is to gauge the interest of attorneys and soon-to-be attorneys in such positions. Each position is a one year fellowship approximately September 2013 to August 2014. There may be fellowships available as well in 2014 and 2015. The pay is extremely modest - $15,000 to $19,000 a year, with federal loan forbearance assistance, and $5,000 loan repayment assistance at the end of the year. Modest relocation expenses may be available. Travel to at least one and possibly two national trainings each year will be paid by the program.
We are also interested in learning of potential candidates that you may know or listservs or other forms of communication where we can find people who might be interested in this opportunity.
Please take a few minutes to complete our survey. Thank you.
