Of The Month Awards
Each month, the NRHH Torch Chapter at NYU grants "Of the Month" awards to outstanding programs, individuals, and communities that go above and beyond to impact the residence hall environment.


The Nomination Process
The nomination process has two separate and distinct categories: awards for programs and awards for individuals/groups. Nominations are due on the last day of each month at midnight.

The awards for programs are as follows:

Community Service Program

Diversity Program

Educational Program

Social Program

Passive Program

The awards for individuals/groups are as follows:

Resident Assistant--FYRE, 'More, Upperclass,Graduate Students

Advisor (to a student group such as IRHC, RA Council, hall council, etc.)

Professional/Grad Staff Member (for those that supervise staffs)

Faculty Member (Faculty Fellows in Residence or Faculty Affiliates)

General Assembly Member (Hall Council/IRHC/NRHH)

Executive Board Member (Hall Council/IRHC/NRHH)

Resource Center Assistant/Office Assistant

Community--FYRE, 'More, Upperclass, Graduate Students, Other (i.e.:RA Council, PE Council, IRHC, etc.)

Spotlight (Residents, Public Safety, Dining Services, etc.)

Please note that there is a difference between Advisor and Professional/Grad Staff Members. Advisor nominees must advise a student group (ex: Hall Council, IRHC, RA Council, PE Council, etc.). Professional/Grad Staff nominees can be recognized for going above and beyond in their daily job requirements.


Tips for Writing Winning OTMs

Submit OTM nominations on TIME!

Give as much information about the event or the individual as possible; feel free to ask the person you want to nominate about their work

Define acronyms, since they are not always universal

Make sure you are nominating someone for the correct category

Proofread your nominations for spelling and grammar

Make sure your nominations are MONTH SPECIFIC. Use statements like, "In this month, ..."

We recommend writing all nominations in a word document and then use copy and paste.
