We want to hear from you!

The City of Asheville’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department is seeking public input to help determine the name for a new recreation center, located on the corner of Livingston Street and Depot Street in the South Central neighborhood.

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRIES:
Suggestions will be accepted between May 1-15, 2011. Once the suggestion period closes, names will go to a panel of area residents and recreation board members, who will make the final selection. Once the selection is reviewed by the Recreation Advisory Board it will pass to City Council, where the final name will be considered.

Traditionally, recreation centers are named according to the geographical, historical, or ecological relationship to the site. Recreation centers can be named for a person who contributed significantly to Asheville as evidenced by their contribution through community service, state or national affiliations. A facility cannot be named after an individual who is deceased until after a one-year period.
