NCPH Guide to Public History Programs

Thank you for contributing to the NCPH GUIDE TO PUBLIC HISTORY PROGRAMS, a free resource for prospective students, public history faculty, and anyone interested in the shape of public history education today. NCPH staff will compile data from this form into an entry for your program, which will appear as a brief PDF on the NCPH website. The guide will offer basic information, in a standardized format, about the growing number of public history programs for graduate and undergraduate students. It is meant to be a starting point for students, prospective students, faculty, and others wishing to compare programs. Each entry will include a direct link to its program’s website, thereby offering immediate details and context. The guide might also become useful for museums and other public history institutions, government agencies, pre-collegiate schools, businesses, and community groups to identify potential partners in their geographical area. Information collected for the guide will allow NCPH to provide more regular statistics about the profession, the expansion of public history education, and the diversity in approaches and resources.
1.Please complete the following information, providing your email address and telephone number so that we are able to contact you if we have questions.
DIRECTIONS

1. Completing the questionnaire requires approximately 20 minutes. You may leave the questionnaire and return multiple times using the web link. The system will recognize the IP address of your computer, so you will have to use the same computer to return to the form you have started. (If you want to fill out the form once for your graduate program and once for your undergraduate program, you will have to use two different computers.)

2. Be sure to save your work by clicking on the “Save & Proceed to Next Page” button at the bottom of each page. Clicking on the “Done” button at the bottom of the fifth page will submit your form.

3. There are 29 questions across five pages. Most questions involve simply checking a box or providing a few words, though some require a more substantial textual response. We recommend that you click through to the fifth page to see the range of information you will need to complete the form.

4. Feel free to leave a field blank if there does not seem to be an appropriate way to answer it.

5. To make changes after submitting the form, please send them to ncph@iupui.edu.

6. NCPH staff will begin posting individual entries in batches over the next few weeks as they become available.
