Behind the Lines: the Music and Composers of the First World War

More information will be available on our website throughout the year: www.musicbehindthelines.org
Thank you for taking an interest in "Behind the Lines: the Music and Composers of the First World War". This is a year-long programme, supported using public funding by Arts Council England, and inspired by the centenary of the First World War.

Westminster Music Library and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra have teamed up to devise and deliver Behind the Lines and beginning in September 2013, educational leaders and world-class musicians from the Orchestra will lead a series of interactive workshops and creative projects for families, adults and school age children; with no experience necessary and all musical abilities welcome, there's certainly something for everyone!

Participants will find out about music and composers that were inspired by the First World War, including Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Butterworth, Bliss, Gurney and Holst. There will also be the opportunity to hear some of this fascinating music being played by the Orchestra at their beautiful London home, Cadogan Hall, and information about other RPO concerts featuring WW1 related repertoire.
