Modeling in High School Physics Instruction 2013
Modeling in High School Physics Instruction: Application for Review
The Detroit Metropolitan Area Physics Teachers (DMAPT) in partnership with Mathematics Science Centers of Southeast Michigan present Modeling in High School Physics Instruction.
This 15-day workshop will provide physics teachers with a thorough exploration of the methods of Modeling Instruction - an approach recognized as exemplary by the U.S. Department of Education.
The content focus will be on mechanics, typically a first semester of high school physics. Participants are supplied with a complete set of course materials and will practice the implementation of the curriculum as intended for high school classes.
Participants rotate through roles of student and instructor as they practice techniques of guided inquiry and cooperative learning. Strategies for raising the level of discourse during classroom discussions and student presentations are emphasized.
