Maternal Parenting Beliefs and Child Anxiety

1. Participant's Information Sheet

 8%
You are invited to take part in a study investigating parents’ beliefs and behaviours.

If you are not a woman 25 years of age or older, and do not have a child between 7-12 years of age, please do not complete this survey.

This study is being conducted by Drs. Adela Apetroaia and Cathy Creswell at the University of Reading in the UK.

Please read this information sheet carefully before deciding whether or not to participate in this study.

If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to answer some questions about yourself, your child and how you might respond in various situations.

The session will take between 20-30 minutes to complete. You will receive further information about the study and its aims after you have completed the questionnaire.

At the end of the survey, you will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw for a £100 voucher of your choice from Amazon, Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Tesco, or Waitrose. If the winner of the prize draw is not from the UK, she will receive a shopping voucher of equivalent value. The prize draw will take place when 300 participants have responded.

This survey is anonymous and your responses will be kept completely confidential. Survey responses will be collected online and the data collected will be encrypted and stored separately from any personally identifying information you may provide. All materials are only accessible to the researchers conducting this study. All materials will be destroyed after a period of 5 years from the completion of the project or if you wish to withdraw from the study.

Taking part in this study is completely voluntary and you may exit the survey at any time.

If you have questions about the research or your participation, or if you feel that your participation has led to any emotional or physical discomfort, please contact Dr Adela Apetroaia at a.apetroaia@reading.ac.uk.

This project has been reviewed, according to procedures specified by the University Research Ethics Committee, and allowed to proceed.
