Lune Aqueduct and Lancaster Canal HLF project Survey

The 200-year-old Lune Aqueduct is all set to scrub up nicely through a £2 million facelift. The proposed enhancements are part of ambitious plans for the Northern Reaches of the Lancaster Canal, which will eventually see it become a catalyst for sustainable transport and tourism in the North West.

2. What are the barriers that might stop you using the canal towpath and the aqueduct?

What are the barriers that might stop you using the canal towpath and the aqueduct? Lack of signage, I wouldn’t know how to get there

I haven’t seen any leaflets, or advertising about it to prompt me to visit

Access points are not very welcoming

Steep steps along the route make it difficult for bikes and pushchairs

Not somewhere you’d go on a wet day

I wouldn’t feel safe

I just don’t think of going there

Dog mess
