Northern Region Jazz Agency

1. Securing a future for jazz in the North of England

In January 2011 Jazz Yorkshire, NWJazzworks and Jazzaction (NE) made a proposal to the Arts Council for funding during 2012-15 as part of their National Portfolio Funding Programme (NPFP). The proposal included establishing a formal collaborative partnership to form a northern jazz development agency so as to establish a very strong and sustainable northern presence in the national and international jazz world.

While our agencies have not received NPO status we are committed to forming a Northern region jazz agency and we are in dialogue with Arts Council England and other stakeholders about how best to achieve this, including pursuing alternative funding options. Jazz Yorkshire has RFO funding until the end of March 2012 so until then it is business as usual supporting jazz stakeholders across our region.

If you have an interest in the northern region jazz scene we would appreciate you taking a few minutes to answer a few questions. These will help us prepare our strategy plans towards the goal of setting up a Northern region agency.

Thank you for taking the time to answer this questions.
