In-house questionnaire

Introduction

Last May it was announced that licensing would not be extended to include in-house security officers.

This announcement was based on the principle that an industry consultation ‘found insufficient substantiated evidence of risk or threat to the public to support in-house licensing’.

It has been noted that the in-house question will not be revisited until 2012. However the BSIA would welcome your input and your experiences on this issue and hence we would welcome input on the following questions.

We ask that all companies put in place a monthly review procedure so that any issues that come to light on an ongoing basis are recorded and input into the BSIA.

Responses will only be viewed by the BSIA executive.

1. Please can you complete AT LEAST ONE of the following:

2. Has your organisation undertaken any TUPE transfers of in-house personnel where the former in-house employee has subsequently been refused a SIA licence?

3. Outside of TUPE transfers, has your organisation interviewed any in-house personnel where you have had reason to believe that the individual concerned may not be able to successfully apply for a licence?

4. Have you employed any former in-house personnel where you have had cause to question the standard of training they have previously received?

5. Are you aware of any former employees who have had a licence revoked and subsequently gained employment on an in-house basis?

6. Do you have any substantiated evidence of situations where the public may have been at risk as a direct result of in-house security personnel?

7. Do you have any substantiated evidence of confusion from the public at large between the different requirements of contract and in-house? Do you have any evidence to demonstrate that the public at large have assumed all security officers (including in-house) are licensed by the SIA?
