2013 NEA Higher Ed Conference Survey

 
The 2013 NEA Higher Education Conference will be held March 22-24, 2013 in Portland, Oregon at the Portland Marriott Waterfront. In addition to the conference, we will host Leadership Day on March 21st, state higher ed affiliate staff training on March 22nd and NCHE will host membership meetings on March 21st and 22nd. The theme of this year's conference is "Faculty, Students and the Common Good". As a means of developing a conference that meets the needs of our members, we invite you to participate in this survey to give us feedback on sessions, format and other suggestions for this year's conference. Please note that information regarding a call for workshop proposals is on the last page of the survey. 3. Have you ever attended the NEA Higher Education Conference?
4. If you answered no to question #3, what would it take for you to attend this year's conference?
5. What suggestions do you have for dynamic keynote speakers, plenary session topics or breakout sessions for this year's conference?
6. For the first time, we will publish conference proceedings through submission of papers based on the conference theme. Papers have the possibility of being published in an edited book or other NEA publications.

The conference invites the submission of papers in the following areas:

• Union organizing in higher education
• The role of faculty, students, academic professionals and
higher education support professionals in creating a more democratic
society
• The role of unions/associations in creating a more democratic society
• Women and their leadership roles in unions
• Minorities and leadership in unions
• The public good in higher education

Please submit your 350 word abstract with name, e-mail address, phone number and institutional affiliation and two page vitae to Mary Ellen Flannery at mflannery@nea.org by January 3, 2013. Selected conference presenters will be notified by the end of January with further conference details.
