About Hackney Unites

Hackney Unites is a diverse coalition of groups based within the London Borough of Hackney and individuals that have come together to challenge social exclusion and to promote social justice.

Our members and supporters include trade unionists, faith groups, members of black and minority ethnic communities and migrant support groups as well as peace activists. We welcome any organisation or individual that wants to join us in our campaigning.

We are undertaking this community census in part because we want people from Hackney to tell us what they care about, but equally, because we believe that the government’s cuts agenda will damage our communities. We also believe that the communities that live in Hackney have much in common and we would all benefit from breaking down barriers between us. The survey is about identifying our shared hopes, aspirations and fears and beginning a discussion about how we can organise effectively to protect our communities. It also invites your views on issues which we are already active around, such as workers rights, the CLR James legacy, anti-racism, transport services and making Hackney a borough of sanctuary.

Please help by completing this census – we really appreciate you giving up your time to do this.
