Description of the Study:
This is a single-session study in which a number of different kinds of psychological tests and measures are being evaluated and compared with emotional creativity. To do this, we will ask you complete a short demographic questionnaire, the Emotional Creativity Inventory, the Humor Style Questionnaire, and the New General Self-Efficacy Scale. It will also include five exploratory measures: the Scale of Creative Attributes and Behavior, the Selflessness Scale, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and the Religious Orientation Scale. Participation should take approximately 30 minutes, and is strictly anonymous and confidential.
Purpose of the Study:
To evaluate several psychological tests and measures, and the possible relations between them, especially relating to the construct of emotional creativity in the college population. Due to the limited amount of research regarding the subject of emotional creativity, another purpose of this study is to identify, more specifically, the implications of emotional creativity as an adaptive psychological construct in college students. We are only interested in an evaluation of these variables, and how they are related to one another. We are NOT interested in any specific individual’s results.
Possible Risks:
To the best of my knowledge, the things you will be doing have no more risk of harm than you would experience in everyday life. However, due to the sensitive nature of some of the depression items, you may find some questions to be distressing. Should this occur, the University provides free counseling services, and you can contact them at 318-357-5621.
Possible Benefits:
You will have an opportunity to contribute to psychological science by participating in this research.
Compensation for your Time:
You may receive research participation credit in a psychology course, depending on the course you are currently enrolled in. Please see your professor to find out if you are eligible
