Apres in Action Hot Topic Questionnaire

 

As you may know, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP), which is scheduled for completion by mid 2011. We would appreciate your participation in this important project.

Our OCP update is an opportunity to enshrine the vision, the values, the five community priorities, sustainability objectives, and commitments of Whistler2020 into regulatory actions that will guide ongoing decisions related to land use impacting our resort community.

As required by the Local Government Act, our OCP guides land use and development planning, as well as a wide range of other decisions that affect the community. According to legislation, the OCP must consider housing, schools, service requirements, public facilities, location and requirements for commercial, industrial, agricultural and other land uses, greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets, and restrictions on lands that are environmentally sensitive or hazardous. The OCP is implemented with tools such as zoning, budget allocations, infrastructure planning and the provision of recreational amenities.

Public engagement is critical to the success of the OCP update. There will be a number of public engagement opportunities throughout the OCP update, starting off with the official OCP launch on May 26, 2010 – the “2010 Après in Action – OCP Update” event. We invite you to join us to discuss Hot Topics that will inform the OCP Update.

Please take 5-10 minutes to provide your input on important issues in Whistler, which will help us prepare for Après in Action discussion.
