Informed Consent
The following study is designed to examine love and interpersonal chemistry among athletes. This study is being conducted by Dr. Kelly Campbell, Assistant Professor at the California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). This study has been approved by the Psychology Department Institutional Review Board subcommittee of the California State University, San Bernardino. A copy of the official Psychology IRB Committee stamp of approval should appear somewhere on this consent form.
In this study you will be asked to complete a survey about your athletic performance and experience in friendships and romantic relationships. You will also be asked questions about your personality and demographic characteristics such as gender, age, etc. The online survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All of your responses will be anonymous. At no time will your name be requested or recorded during your participation. If you are a CSUSB student, you will be asked to provide your name and SONA ID at the end of the study for extra credit points. This information will be stored separately from your survey responses to protect the anonymity of your responses. Upon completing the survey, participants who do not elect to receive extra credit points will have the option to enter a draw for a $50 giftcard. Should you choose to enter this drawing, your contact information will be stored separate from your survey responses. Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You are free to withdraw your participation at any time during the study without penalty. This study entails no risks beyond those routinely encountered in daily life, nor does it provide any direct benefits to individual participants. However, you may learn more about yourself from participating in this study. If you are a CSUSB student, at your instructor’s discretion, you may receive 1 unit of extra credit.
