Question Title

* 1. The leadership for the Black To Our Roots program is provided by a team of Jegna. Jegna is an Amharic term from Ethiopia that translates to mean “brave warrior”. Marimba Ani also uses the term in her seminal work, Yurugu, to denote the concept of the "warrior-teacher, intellectual father, ideological influence". In the Black To Our Roots program, the Jegna work closely with the youth to guide their development as leaders, facilitate workshops, organize fundraisers, initiate research projects, and act as big brothers/sisters in general. The Jegna work together as a team to creatively provide the youth with a cultural framework for understanding themselves within society. The responsibilities are many, but so are the rewards. We will begin selecting Jegna for the program beginning in May 2012. The program will start in October 2012. In the meantime, continue to get updates on all of HABESHA's activities at www.habeshabmore.org.
