The training will focus on 3 components: (1) reframing the issue of prostitution, (2) addressing the demand, and (3) focusing on the relationship between the prostituted person and his/her pimp/trafficker.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Examine gender socialization as a means to understanding the practice of prostitution
• Identify risk factors that increase one’s vulnerability to being prostituted
• Juxtapose the concept of Men’s Entitlement with that of Men’s Accountability
• Explore the relationship of prostitution to other forms of gender-based violence including micro-aggressions through the framework of the Sexual Violence Continuum
• Understanding normative Male Sexual Identity as an identification with dominance that is inconsistent with the notions of equality and gender justice
• Evaluate the findings of the 2011 study, “Comparing Sex Buyers with Men Who Don’t Buy Sex.”
• Be aware of the language of the sub-culture of prostitution
• Understanding several common different types of pimping
• Recognize the similarity of the relationship of the “boyfriend pimp” of the prostituted person to that of an intimate partner violence
• Explore the issue of trauma bonding as it relates to the practice of prostitution
