AALL Data.gov Survey
Exit this survey >>
Last May, the White House launched Data.gov, the Federal government's raw-data portal. As part of the Office of Management and Budget's new Open Government Directive, agencies were required to publish at least three "high-value" datasets on Data.gov by January 22.

The AALL Government Relations Office would like your feedback about the usefulness of these datasets to your work. We will use your assessments to inform the White House about which datasets are most valuable to legal researchers.

Many agencies have already posted their FOIA reports, which contain statistics about the number of FOIA requests and related costs, online in an open format. Please exclude FOIA datasets in your responses because we have already discussed with the White House the need to make these reports public.

Please complete the survey by February 12, 2010.

1. List the top five datasets, along with the name of the publishing agency, in Data.gov (http://www.data.gov/ogd) that are most valuable for your own research or that of your library users or clients.

2. List five datasets, along with the name of the agency, which are not currently in Data.gov that you would like to see added.

3. Are you or your library using content from any of the datasets? If so, please name the dataset(s) and note how its content is being used.
