1. Introduction

In response to the urgent need to address high levels of youth unemployment within CARICOM Member States and the need for innovative approaches for labour market diversification, , the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Subregional Office for Barbados and the OECS and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) have partnered since June 2012, to promote and support an entrepreneurial culture in the region under the Youth Innovation (Youth-IN): A Caribbean Network for Youth Development project. The initiative promotes innovation, economic and social development among young people in collaboration with global and regional public, private and international alliances and stakeholders. Out of the collaboration, the 1st edition of the Caribbean Innovation Challenge (CIC) was held in April 2013, followed by the development of a support system for young entrepreneurs.

In an effort to enhance the CIC support system for young entrepreneurs, UNDP Barbados and YABT will conduct a mapping exercise that will assess current entrepreneurial programmes in the CARICOM Member States, identify potential matches between the needs of young entrepreneurs with available services and help build a comprehensive strategy that will benefit both service providers and young entrepreneurs.

Thank you in advance for participating in this initiative and supporting the development of young people in the Caribbean.
