ASGBI Emergency General Surgery fellows responses

1. Welcome

We would be very grateful if you would complete the following confidential survey on emergency general surgery. Compared with our elective practices, emergency surgery is high risk, unstructured and under-funded. It is clear that many consultant colleagues find emergency duty stressful and feel their efforts are undervalued and at times unsupported. The ASGBI is embarking on a process to improve the delivery of emergency general surgery from the perspectives of both patient and surgeon. As a first step we need data on the current service and attitudes to it, hence this survey. We will circulate the results of the survey to you directly when they are available and keep you informed of the subsequent steps.

Colleagues views may differ. We have already gathered information on service delivery in most acute hospitals. This part of the survey gives you the opportunity to answer personally.

The study is aimed at general surgery and is less suited to vascular surgery. If you are a vascular surgeon and wish to comment, that's fine too. The free text boxes near the end may be most appropriate.

It should take less than 10 minutes.

Thanks for your help.
