Registration for Workshops Winter-Spring 2010
1. Session Details and Requirements
Please join Lanark Community Programs (LCP) for a series of workshops in Winter and Spring, 2010.
Here is a brief description of each workshop, before we ask you to proceed and register for the ones you want to attend.
On February 13, 2010 (a Saturday) we offer Dr. John Coombs, and a parent panel of Amy Booth and Jennifer Nicholson discussing the Gluten-Free-Casein-Free diet which is frequently prescribed for young children with autism, and others. They will also present and describe practical implications of some other diets for neurodevelopmental conditions, including the Ketogenic diet for children with some seizure disorders.
On March 26th, 2010 (a Friday) we offer a presentation by Stan Errett, an ordained minister and registered psychologist, and Dr. Jim Albert, former Dean of Social Work of Carleton University, on the implications of spirituality on health and wellness. This will focus not only on the disAbility community and their families and supporters, but also on Health and Wellness in general. Thus it would be appropriate for those who work with seniors, hospitalized patients, people working or living within the mental health system, or in community services to people in general.
Our Winter-Spring live workshop series will culminate on April 30th and May 1st with a perennially favourite speaker, Dave Hingsburger, coming to town for two days of presentations on wellness for those with disAbilities, including discussions on maltreatment, prevention of abuse, working sensitively with those whose behaviour and/or sexuality is challenging to their caregivers and others, and other themes that Dave has popularized and written about.
We think this is an exciting season, so mark your calendars and register for these workshops. There will be discounts for those who register for a series, and who register early!
