Transportation

The Commonwealth faces serious transportation issues in the next decade. Without additional revenue, experts say that Virginia will soon not have funds sufficient to access substantial federal dollars for road construction.

In 2010, the General Assembly will likely consider a bill to increase funding for mass transit and secondary roads. How important are the following to solving our problems?

Very ImportantSomewhat ImportantNot Very ImportantNot at all ImportantI don't know
Raising the gas tax by .05 per gallon (raises $250 million per year).
Retaining or expanding the ability of localities to impose "impact fees" on developers to recapture the "costs of growth."
Transferring money from General Fund budget items like schools to fund roads and transit.
Spending no new money on transportation; we are in a recession.
