* 1. Amazon Web Services is set up for companies rather than for students, so the way you get an account is to get an activation key (which we have) and then supply a credit card number as a backup in case you exceed your initial allocation.

We think you'll only use 20% of your allocation for both your lab and your project, so we think no one will get close to exhausting their allocation. (The AWS model is to let you do your work and then charge, rather than to terminate your work in mid flight once the account is empty.)

We're trying to find another solution, but it may be that we need to supply a credit card number.
