. This war is wrong, 90% of all the soldiers are on foot in extreme conditions, and 90% those have to cross miles of terrain everyday (global post), no matter how much they might want to stop. The reason these soldiers are on foot is because of IEDs or improvised explosive devises stop them from using trucks to get around and MRAV’s (mine resistant ambush vehicles) are too big to drive through towns. And although the Taliban rarely shoots at the soldiers 6000 have already died since the war began. (icasualties.org) Quote a currently enlisted soldier “Instead of just trying to kill us, they also want to make us spend forever to go 100 meters.” “If you go on the roads, you know you’re going to hit IEDs. Then you’re just stuck in vehicle recovery all day, every day.” It isn’t right that our soldiers are over in that country trying to save them from the Taliban, they are being killed and can’t fight back because the enemy is barely seen.
Plus, now Obama is going to send in 30,000 more soldiers in addition to the 68,000 soldiers already there bring the total number of soldiers up to roughly 100,000 soldiers (foxnews.com). Over six months soldiers will be deployed into an area where we shouldn’t be. With all of these soldiers out in Afghanistan, who is here protecting us? Although the president claims we are only in this country to find Osama bin laden, then why are we liberating locals teaching them are ways, we aren’t even there for the right purpose. We aren’t doing what we are supposed to. Either find Osama or get our soldiers out.
Please comment how you feel about the war and if your opinion has changed about it.
