It's time again for the Ice Age Trail Mobile Skills Crew Winter Rendezvous - a social gathering for volunteers, family, friends and anyone interested in the curiously magical phantasmal Ice Age National Scenic Trail…an interlude to celebrate the year past and look to the year ahead. Come for the day or spend the night. Food Friends and Fun!

In addition to Saturdays festivities, Sunday morning we will preview the draft 2010-2013 MSC Strategic Plan and solicit input. Please consider joining us for the Sunday morning discussion following the Rendezvous from 8:30 -11:30; lunch is on-the house.

About our accommodations: The CWES is a 300-acre teaching and learning center located 17 miles east of Stevens Point on glacial Sunset Lake. There is a network of trails on the CWES grounds and access to the Ice Age Trail just down the road. The Iola Ski Hill is just 4 miles away. Skunk/Foster Lakes SNA and Waupaca SFA, the June 2009 project-is nearby. We will arrange car pools for hiking or cross country skiing.

Lodging information: We will be staying in the Walker Lodge. The lodge has two bay areas (a men's side and a women's side) with 22 bunks per side and a shower/restroom facility. Each bay is divided into 3 pods to give a little more privacy. There is a large common room with log tables, chairs, benches and a sunken fireplace. A small microwave, sink and refrigerator are available in the kitchenette.

A few cabins are also available. Each cabin has 4 bunk beds. There is a 4 person minimum per cabin. The cabins do not have indoor restroom facilities. A heated central bathroom and shower building is a short walk away.

What to bring: * Outdoor wear and equipment(cross country skis, snow shoes and/or hiking boots depending upon snow cover) * Bedding, sleeping bag, etc. * Towel and toiletries * A camp chair if you'd like to be more comfortable sitting around the fireplace

Note: Smoking is not allowed on trails or in the lodge.

From Stevens Point Travel east on Highway 10 to County Hwy 161. Turn left on 161 and follow to County Highway A. Turn left (north) on A for 2 1/2 miles to MM, turn right (east) on MM for 3/4 miles. CWES will be on your left.

From Milwaukee and Lake Michigan Take Highway 41 north to Oshkosh, then take Highway 45 north to Highway 10 West at Fremont (exit 120). Turn right on to Hwy 161 and follow to County Highway A. Turn left (north) on A for 2 1/2 miles to MM and turn right (east). CWES will be on your left 3/4 mile down.

From Madison and Southwest Take Highway 51[I-39] North to Stevens Point and follow directions from Stevens Point (above)

From the East Take Highway 54 west to Waupaca or 10 west from Fox River Valley. Take highway 10 West to Hwy 161. Turn right on Hwy 161 and follow to County Highway A. Turn left (north) on A for 2 1/2 miles to MM and turn right (east). CWES will be on your left 3/4 mile down.

Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.
