The team at Whitwick Community Coffee Shop has been working hard on the plans for developing a new multi-purpose Community Centre for our village.
Significant progress has been made including the Feasibility Study, preliminary community consultation and building design works, as well as negotiations with funders.
We are currently nearing planning approval for a brand new 950 sq. metre building to be located on land behind the Wheel on The City of Dan, Leicester Road.
We have spoken to many local groups, organisations and associations and the support has been very strong. We have some groups who are seeking permanent space and others needing occasional use of facilities within the proposed building.
Events, such as “Party In The Park”, have enabled us to gather the opinions of the general public but we now need to get a clearer picture of the actual demand for the proposed facilities. This will help us make a stronger case to the funders we are in negotiations with to help us bring this to reality.
