FiO 2010 Student Contest: Feeding Young Minds!
1. FiO Student Contest Entry Form
OSA Chapters develop and host an amazing array of youth education activities and this contest is designed to showcase some of the very best of these teaching demonstrations. The competition theme is "Feeding Young Minds" and we encourage chapters to integrate this concept into their demonstrations.
The following criteria will be used for the judging:
• Effectiveness: Will the students learn? Is the lesson appropriate for grades six to nine? Will it impress kids, and make them want to see more?
• Originality: Has the idea been done before? If so, do you have a new twist?
• Reach: How many students did your effort reach?
• Tie-in with the contest theme: Bonus points if you can incorporate eating utensils (forks, spoons, chop sticks), plates/bowls, cups, bottles/cartons or trays.
Participating chapters will be assigned a 6’ (about 183 cm) by 2’ (about 61 cm) table in the FiO exhibit hall. We ask that the entire demonstration fit on the table.
All contest entries must be received by September 1, 2010. A brief description of your project is due on September 15, 2010. If you have questions, please email April Zack at azack@osa.org.
Best of luck and have fun!
