March Madness 2010

The NCAA men's basketball tournament tips off later this week amid big questions, the least of which is who will actually win the title. The much bigger question, at least in the minds of media people, is where exactly the tourney will air next year, with the NCAA seriously considering opting out of its contract with CBS after next month's Final Four.

CBS could try to woo the NCAA back via a joint package with Turner Networks that would allow the tournament field to expand to 96 teams, an option the NCAA reportedly likes. Or ESPN could pick up the rights to the games, as it has just about every other sport.

We want to know what you think. Will the tourney stay on CBS? Would you like to see it expanded? Has CBS done a good job of expanding into new media? And who do you think will win?

The results will run later this week.

1. Do you think the NCAA will opt out of its contract with CBS following next month's Final Four?

2. If the NCAA does opt out, what network(s) stand(s) the best chance of gaining the games?

3. Do you think it's a good idea to expand the March Madness field from 65 to 96 teams?

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being poor and 10 being excellent, how would you rate the success of March Madness on Demand over the past few years?

5. There are still many rounds of basketball and countless upsets before we know who’ll be in the finals. But gut feeling: Will ratings for this tournament be up or down versus last year?

6. Do you generally like CBS’s coverage of the tournament?

7. Advertisers spent nearly $600 million on March Madness last year, second only to the Super Bowl among sporting events. What have you advised clients on this year's game, for either TV or online buys? For what brands does an NCAA tournament buy make the most sense?

8. Which sporting event has become the most overhyped?

9. Who will win the tournament?

10. How much of the men's tournament will you watch?

11. Will you use any of the following? (Check all that apply.)
